 The Atheist

This work is named the Atheist because of its criticizing view on religion, more specific Christianity and its surrounding structure, Catholicism. 'The Atheist' is based on a famous 20th century iconic catholic image, with the writing on it; 'God ziet mij, hier vloekt men niet', translated 'God sees me, here one does not curse'. The iconic image also depicts gods' eye in the middle of a prism, which in the painting is replaced by a nose with the words 'This stinks'.
